Estimated glomerular filtration rate (eGFR) is an estimate of how well the kidneys are filtering. It is commonly calculated from a blood creatinine result together with other variables used by the laboratory equation.
eGFR and CKD stages
eGFR is used to group kidney function from G1 through G5. But an eGFR value by itself does not always establish CKD, particularly at higher values; persistence and markers of kidney damage matter.
